Fuzhen’s development trajectory bears the distinct mark of China’s incense industry transition from a planned economy to a market economy. Its roots can be traced back to the early 1980s, evolving from a state-owned factory focused on incense production. In the initial phase of China’s reform and opening-up, as market vitality gradually unfolded, traditional state-owned factories confronted challenges like inflexible production models and delayed market responsiveness. The team behind Fuzhen, however,敏锐ly detected the market’s demand for high-quality, diversified incense products and resolutely initiated a transformation. This involved optimizing production processes, introducing market-oriented management systems, researching consumer needs, and adjusting product structures. After nearly three decades of exploration and accumulation, Fuzhen broke free from the operational constraints of traditional state-owned enterprises, amassing solid technical expertise and a strong market reputation.
On April 9, 2010, Fuzhen completed its formal registration and established its presence at Group 5, Committee 5, Babei Street, Zhaodong City, Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province. This location was strategically chosen: Zhaodong, situated in the heart of the Northeast China Plain, boasts abundant local resources, facilitating the procurement of natural raw materials essential for incense production. Additionally, the region’s improved transportation network enables seamless connectivity to major Northeast Chinese cities such as Harbin and Daqing, creating an efficient logistics framework for distributing products across the three northeastern provinces and the broader national market. Following its official registration, Fuzhen prioritized standardized operations, developing a comprehensive management system covering raw material selection, production and processing, quality inspection, and market sales—ushering in a new era of professional and large-scale brand development.
Over decades of dedicated development, Fuzhen has adhered unwaveringly to the core principle of “quality as the foundation of the brand, reputation as the driver of the enterprise.” Through rigorous quality control and sustained investment in brand building, it has earned numerous authoritative honors, evolving from a regional brand into a benchmark in the national incense industry.
In 2005, Fuzhen’s core brand, “Xianxianglou,” achieved a significant milestone: its trademark was awarded the title of “Consumer Trusted Product” by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This honor stemmed from Fuzhen’s uncompromising pursuit of quality—from sourcing premium natural spices and adopting eco-friendly production techniques to conducting three rounds of quality inspections for each product batch before shipment, ensuring every “Xianxianglou” item meets strict safety and health standards. This recognition not only solidified “Xianxianglou’s” reputation as a reliable brand among consumers but also served as a critical gateway for Fuzhen to enter the national market, resulting in a substantial surge in product orders within a short period.
In 2006, the “Xianxianglou” trademark gained further acclaim, being officially designated as a “Well-Known Trademark of Zhaodong City.” This municipal-level honor recognized Fuzhen’s commitment to深耕 the local market and serving regional consumers. Prior to this, Fuzhen had launched a range of specialized incense products tailored to local folk traditions and consumer habits, catering to occasions such as festivals and rituals. With its demand-driven design and consistent quality, Fuzhen won widespread popularity among local customers. After securing the “Well-Known Trademark” title, Fuzhen expanded its local market presence by opening brand-owned stores and establishing direct communication channels with consumers, laying a solid foundation for its subsequent expansion into the provincial market.
In 2007, “Xianxianglou” elevated its brand influence by being named a “Famous Trademark of Heilongjiang Province.” This provincial-level honor validated Fuzhen’s product quality, quality management systems, and brand competitiveness on a broader scale. By this time, Fuzhen had built a sales network covering 13 prefecture-level cities in Heilongjiang. Through participation in provincial exhibitions and brand promotion activities, “Xianxianglou” emerged as a representative brand in the province’s incense market. This achievement also enabled Fuzhen’s products to expand beyond Northeast China, entering markets in North China, East China, and other regions, and laying the groundwork for its national brand influence.
In 2009, Fuzhen achieved a pivotal leap in its industry status by being elected Vice-Chairman Unit of the Incense Branch of the China National Daily Use Sundry Goods Association. This role marked Fuzhen’s transition from an “industry participant” to an “industry leader.” As Vice-Chairman Unit, Fuzhen actively engaged in industry exchanges and technical seminars organized by the association, sharing its expertise in production management and quality control. It also took on the responsibility of promoting the standardized development of the industry, participating in research on industry challenges, and offering solutions to issues like overcapacity and product homogeneity—significantly enhancing its voice in the national incense industry.
In 2010, Fuzhen’s contributions to the industry were further recognized when it was appointed a member of the National Quality Standard Committee for Incense Products and participated in formulating the certification standards for national mandatory quality requirements for incense. Leveraging decades of production experience and technical knowledge, Fuzhen’s team proposed constructive recommendations on key indicators such as raw material safety, combustion performance, and harmful substance limits for incense products. Many of these suggestions were incorporated into the final national mandatory standards. This effort not only aligned Fuzhen’s quality management systems with national standards but also helped the national incense industry overcome the challenges of “lack of standards and uneven quality,” driving the industry toward greater standardization and higher quality. Today, Fuzhen is widely acknowledged as a “standard setter” in the national incense industry, thanks to its significant contributions to standard formulation.
